Arizona Cardinals recipient Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was arrested Wednesday morning for criminal speeding, the Arizona Department of Public Safety confirmed. KTAR News 92.3 FM and Arizona Sports.
Brown was arrested at 7:05 a.m. heading south on Loop 101, driving in an HOV lane, according to DPS spokesman Bart Graves.
Brown was not with the team during the Wednesday morning portion of training that was in view of reporters, but has been slowly recovering from a hamstring injury since the start of training camp last week.
“We are aware of the situation regarding Hollywood Brown and have reported it to the NFL office if necessary. We will respond further as necessary,” the Cardinals said in a statement.
Brown was placed on the list of active non-football injuries the day before training camp started last Wednesday due to the hamstring problem. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said it was more of a precaution before the squad took Brown off the NFI list on Tuesday.
“We’ll just let him back in. We’re going to start him with the walk-throughs…I’m guessing Monday will go full-go if everything stays on track,” Kingsbury said on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the head coach said the team hoped Brown could return by the weekend, but the Cardinals wanted to be smart about his health.
With the Baltimore Ravens in 2021, Brown recorded a career high of 1,008 yards and added six touchdowns.
On the opening night of the NFL Draft, he and Baltimore’s 100th overall pick were traded to the Cardinals for Arizona’s first-round pick.
